Dwolla set to challenge PayPal for online payments

Nowadays, people often use smartphone to pay for your coffee or plane ticket through the so called digital wallet instead of scrounging for cash or pulling out plastic. One of the popular digital wallet providers is Paypal. However, there are those who became disappointed by PayPal as an online installments choice ever since it was acquired by eBay. Many have felt the sting of misplaced resources, account freezes and other service problems that some may say rest just this side of outright fraud. Then there are the charges. For those who desire options, there's Dwolla, an online installments website that claims it does a much better job than the competition, for less cash.

Very promising technology.  The potential is huge. More so if costs can be lowered further for adopting it.

Also this is a incentive for older (NFC unsupported) phone users to upgrade to NFC supported models as the technology adopts more to the mainstream.

Today there is so much different apps in different areas! Mobile experience is irreplacable, no doubt! But with such amount of choice it is simply impossible to find what one really needs!

Just bought a Motorola Droid Razr M, because it was smaller (and less expensive) than the Droid Razr Maxx and Droid Razr Maxx HD. That means, it's the low end of the line. It has NFC. That tells me that NFC is not just a feature for select high end phones. Within a year, phones that have it will be widely distributed.

I think things like peer-to-peer pairing, "secure" transaction, and the ability for users to program what they want their NFC stickers to do are a few good examples NFC do better than barcodes.

Cost is the main factor. Barcode and magnetic card are lower cost than NFC. What are the values of NFC bringing on the table given Google has been using bar code to do eWallet?

NFC applications are so nice that I think Samsung and Android phones are now embracing the right technology to expand the functionality of smartphone to endless imagination. Apple, on the other hand, looks down at this fascinating technology so I wonder if Apple will be out of our eyesight in 3 to 5 years (provided they keep on just improving processors but putting everything in more or less look alike chassises)
