It's nice to see Korea investing, once again, in the USA. Meanwhile, Apple is moving it's business to TSMC (China). Can it be that Samsung's tablets and phones are more "American" than Apple tablets and phones?

Thanks Thomas! But didn't Samsung spent $4B on S2-Austin to ramp to 40K mainly in 2011?

Probably not a short term investment. By the article, $11 billion total (including the recent $4 billion announcement) from 1996 - 2012. Let's take away the recently announced funds and we have $7 billion spent from 1996 - 2012. My educated guess is the fastest burn rate is about 4-5 years to spend the $4 billion.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
