SynthWorks offers on-line VHDL training classes (Intro, Testbench/OSVVM boot-camp, or Coding for Synthesis) - it is not free like yours though.
We list them on our public class schedule at: http://www.synthworks.com/public_vhdl_courses.htm
What is needed is all the EDA venders to hunker down and agree on a basic free open source standard for a common platform for students to learn the basics.
Tweak your propriatary modules to work.
allow them to be downloaded with limited time and functionality for free so students to learn more specialised areas.
Gary`s idea to introduce HDL component into the course is great, I bet his students will like this and will be interested to study more about the HDL components. Can you give me the e-mail of Gary so I could discuss him when the courses will take place? My son would be very interested in this, luckily now he is making a Phlebotomist training and will finish it before Gary will start his introductory digital systems course.
@stevencohen: Can you give me the e-mail of Gary so I could discuss him when the courses will take place?
Eeek -- I wish I could, but a lot of Pooh Sticks have passed under th ebridge sinc eI wrote this blog, and I can no longer recall Gary's contact details ... we can only hope he revisits this column and sees your note... (sad face)
