It is my understanding that most NAND suppliers report their sales to WSTS. In recent weeks, EE Times reported that the WSTS (and other research organizations) had the NAND market growing 4% in 2012. Call me skeptical but it seems a bit of a stretch to conclude the NAND market declined 7%—and to say it declined that much primarily because a the small Ultrabook market never materialized. Just sayin...

The slips of big NAND consumers like Apple and SSDs make quite a big impact.

Down 7% for last year, but the next 4 years looks like good growth if the chart is to be believed.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
