Micron is a particularly sobering case study. Since they offer all the mainstream memories, NAND, DRAM, NOR, MCP, you figure they covered all their bases. But if we consider DRAM as the main bread and butter, then Samsung and SK Hynix together are already the national monopoly. South Korea is the new Japan.

i start to doubt the MM's performance, durcan seems immature and weak, adams just don't have the experience and IQ to handle a COO position. the good news is all competitors (minor one) is gone, easier to build monopoly now. nb will dump their inventory like no tomorrow. bad news, excution sucks, they don't understand asian culture but moved deep inside asia. they don't know the difference between shit and bread in asia.

Elpida/Rexchip will be a hurtle but Micron will make it. They have a good balance of business people and engineers, a good strategy, and are among the top memory makers.

Does anyone know how much of Micron's recent loss is due to "digesting" all of their new acquisitions, and how much is due being behind the Koreans in cost per die and ASP?

I suppose they would have to use a quarter to a third of their market cap to cover the purchase instead.

It will be used up for Elpida and Rexchip purchases.

Fortunately they have some cash reserves, but at this rate, it won't last long.
