Next Year Let's Play Chess!

My hope is that next year we can have several chess playing FPGAs all compete for the first annual Design West FPGAchess Crown!

If you following my blog on All Programmable Planet you can watch my progress toward an open source design that can be used as a starting point for your own ChessFPGA!

http://www.programmableplanet.com/author.asp?section_id=2141&doc_id=264755

I hope to play against YOUR design next year!

I remember TI inviting the editors to a function on the Wednesday evening -- they mentioned that the Moustache Camera would be there -- I think they were somewhat surprised when I turned up with my "Moustache on a Stick" (I always travel with one in case an emergancy arises):

You got a 4 out of 4 on the case study talk, so yes, I'd say you did quite wel. (A 3 on the other, which is average for the event...)

I've been to Design West (formerly ESC) quite a number of years, but this one was the best in quite a while. Next year, I hope to have something interesting to actually show, not just talk about.

This year was my first time at Design West and it was really enjoyable from the indepth talks to the show floor and of course CapNet.

I will definitely be trying to attend next year

The vast majority of the embedded designers I know typically create MCU-based systems -- they rarely even consider using a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.
