Wouldn't be so quick to be so pessimistic about the future of Intel. I like what they've done. Making James pres is will shake things up. Did you notice there's no serious hardware design experience at the top?

I think the most interesting is naming Renee James as president. This reflects the recognition of the importance of the broader ecosystem that Intel is part of.

Intel had a great opportunity to reinvent itself by bringing in an outsider who could have shaken things up and perhaps got the company growing again (just like IBM did with Lou Gerstner). Instead by playing it safe and promoting an insider, Intel will continue to stagnate and never really regain its lost glory. As one indicator of their lack of growth, Intel stock has stayed flat for the past decade or more. Pretty pathetic performance.

To say that Andy Weir's The Martian is an exploration of math, Mars, and feces is a slight simplification. I doubt that the author would have any complaints, though.
