22 nm foundry cases before 22 nm atom obviously means Intel falling back in mobile.

great Intel is getting into the foundry game, as soon as the market picks up, Intel foundry customers will quickly learned who will get the capacity first. Intel great marketing machine for the past 30 years is in trouble, they completely missed the mobile, handset, tablet market, and now they want to manufacture and sell wafers, which is typical of IDM. While ARM is selling IPs only and kicking butts, and doesn't even owned a fab. So now Intel wants to sell foundry so it can make money to retain its mfg. base. May be i have been in foundry too long and dont know how to make money.

Please makes sure we get your IMBOS ready, streamline process more, create BKMs for BKMs. simple changes requires 6 levels of approvals... another IBM or GE... park your money for dividends and ONLY count on your dividends...

If you mean the desires of the street by political correctness, then I would tend to think the street is correct here. It seems to me that bringing manufacturing to the top makes sense. If you can't build them then direction matters little. As far as Perlmutter is concerned Intel's answer is James. Hardware is going to be responsible to software and market.

Or a move borne out of political correctness. Crediting James with 10x increase in software revenue is ludicrous, as most of that came from the acquisition of McAfee. Rumor is that she is not particularly well liked internally. Choosing Krzanich over Perlmuter is very contradictory. On one hand it is a statement that mobile is not doing well. On the other hand it is saying that Intel will keep doing what it is doing. Manufacturing is where they shine, did they really need another Craig Barrett at the top? I agree with the observation on the serious lack of product expertise at the top.
