Intel may very well have given up on mobile. Its planned release for Bay Trail (22 nm Atom for tablets) is effectively 2014. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Intel-Prepares-Mighty-Bay-Trail-T-Atom-for-2014-22nm-CPU-308020.shtml And yet they're taking all these 22 nm orders (even a 14 nm order) from fabless companies. It really does look like Intel is getting out of hardware, and more into services, such as foundry and software-based. But Intel's culture has never been to serve others. So, yes, they could crash and burn very soon.
