I really can't get too excited about these Pic parts.
I have been using Cypress PSOC1s for quite a while now. These parts have programmable digital and analog built in. They have switched cap filters and I have been able to down-convert Low Freq RF directly with just a handful of passives. PSOC designer is a beautiful design environment. You can edit a schematic of the digital and analog parts of the chip and click a tab and be working on code. The design environment lets you pull up data sheets on modules that you have placed in your schematic.
The newer families have more advanced processors and more sophisticated blocks.
I think Cypress has had some really winning parts for awhile but just can't seem to get any traction.
