Help.fulguy-I have known Peter Clarke for many many years and Rick Merrit for a lesser period. They have continually demonstrated that they are both journalists of the highest integrity. In my view the statements you make about both journalists and ARM are untrue, libelous and actionable. I think you must understand that while allowing anonymity in comment sections across the web can offer many advantages as a valuable source of new information, debate and criticism, it does not protect you from legal action.

Again, Peter Clarke is a professional journalist paid by UBM to provide objective coverage of the electronics industry. He has been doing so without fear or favor for decades. No reporter working for EE Times has been "bought." In this two sentence comment you slander Peter Clarke, EE Times, ARM and the entire continent of Europe. We encourage all forum users to express their opinions. However, we do reserve the right to remove comments that contain personal attacks, obscene language and other offensive elements.

@helpfulguy-Peter Clarke and Rick Merritt are professional journalists paid by UBM to provide objective coverage of the electronics industry. Both have been doing so without fear or favor for decades. Your statement that they are paid by ARM is not only inaccurate, but an insult to them personally and to the credibility of EE Times. You buy reporters like these, you will get lots of publicity. Very clever of ARM. Being a company from Europe, ARM can do shady things like this.

It is just an Research grant to a University, no different than research grants given by other institutions or companies to universities. Just getting publicity here for no reason.

Guys like Peter Clarke and Rick Merritt are paid by ARM to write anti-Intel and Pro-ARM articles on EETimes. The BullS*** continues

Great! That should cover the Guinness money for Intel's wake: a three year long wake. Maybe even enough for a brand new BBQ pit.

I also think US$1.5 million is unusually low. Why is this getting so much attention? Is this a typo?

" Intel Corp. has announced that it is embarking on a second phase of research investment at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland, worth $1.5 million over the next three years." 1.5m$ investment over 3 years by Intel corporation in Ireland! The amount is too low for any R&D for a company of Intel's size, that if someone makes a conspiracy theory that such kind of investments are simply cover-ups for operating tax havens outside US... then can we blame them?

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.
