Great summary Brian. Perhaps the most important observation was Sushma's comment that "power is a system design problem, not just an implementation problem" and your later comment about software people getting involved and about the careful definition of use cases. The use case analysis is so fundamental, and a team that ignores that could implement all the voltage domains, clock frequency & voltage scaling, clock gating, etc. that they can dream of, yet still end up with a power inefficient system solution.
Drones are, in essence, flying autonomous vehicles. Pros and cons surrounding drones today might well foreshadow the debate over the development of self-driving cars. In the context of a strongly regulated aviation industry, "self-flying" drones pose a fresh challenge. How safe is it to fly drones in different environments? Should drones be required for visual line of sight – as are piloted airplanes? Join EE Times' Junko Yoshida as she moderates a panel of drone experts.
