The Last Time intel got invoked with the EDA industry, Intel destroyed, ALPHA, PA~RISC, MIPS, and had POWER and SPARC not pulled their OS/support from the platform, they be dead too.

Samsung made good use of their Tech and Fab to edge past Apple in Global Smart phone sales, Apple couldn't get suppliers fast enough to replace Samsung, and Plus their arrogance that other can't come up with innovative stuff.
Intel paid a big price for being arrogant, and not investing in Mobile business.
Presumably Samsung will make the A7, which would be just a tweaked A6.
Why do you think Apple needs a "Galaxy killer"? You think they need quad core just because S3/S4 has it, or need to beat Samsung on pointless benchmarks? What for?
Apple generally doesn't market on specs, they tend to market on what enhanced specs will do the user. I doubt A7 will have quad cores, which is mostly useless in mobile, they'll put any extra silicon area where it matters more, in the GPU.
Too early to tell. Intel doesn't have the capacity necessary to supply Apple right now - consider that Apple would need well over 100 million SoCs per year if they wanted the one for their high end product made by Intel, and compare that to Intel's existing volumes.
When Intel starts ramping 450mm production they'll have a lot more capacity and would then be able to supply Apple. Doesn't mean they will come to an agreement with Apple, but they would at least have the opportunity to do so, which currently is not the case.
I'm not too sure about relationship with Intel. After all, Intel makes processor and very eager to get a chuck of mobile device market. In Apple point of view, Intel is not an ideal partner. With this in mind, I'm sure the "independent" foundry would have an advantage to strike a partnership deal with any MCU design house.
If I were Samsung I'd do an Apple and just chop them. The Cupertino boys would get a taste of their own medicine. When you see how many suppliers they stiffed over the years it would be such a hoot to watch
