Movidius' focus, as noted in the article, is "computational imaging" and this certainly is not "your father's Oldsmobile" of graphics imaging. The July announcement on funding is something interesting but the personnel announced as being brought on board (e.g. El-Ouazzane and Dobberpuhl) seems REALLY interesting; folks who have been very successful in the past in getting new ventures underway and in attracting corporate attention and interest. Graphics-related computation has been a major driver of innovation and exceedingly important of late for advancements in silicon processor features and the field of computational imaging may become a signficant part of why this trend continues for some time.

Is there any prevailing architecture for image processing? Fabless company can develop soft IP blocks for all SoC player to licence...waht are the companies in this marekt beynd this one?

Would be interesting to see that happen. For sure image processing has become a major maret for chips, with a lot of competition, I think, too.
