Is it safe to go so public?

We see now the examples of startups that went through kickstarter and made millions of dollars, but... aren't those some ... only some cases. Is it safe to disclose the market plans? Basically there has always been an idea of keeping your pet project secret otherwise someone else will do your idea right? and take away your earning. 

How can we protect out business in such disclosed conditions?

Hi Luis,

There is a balance to be had between protecitng IP and getting to market - my belief is that patents are all well and good but if you don't have the cash reserves, and time, to defend them in court then your best protection is your brand and ability to act fast in the market place. At the end of the day we don't make any money if there is no market for the product, best to talk and show your idea to people to get feedback than risk launching something no one wants.

Nothing annoys me more than a start up in "Stealth Mode" there is always something you can talk about, just be sensible on the fine details.

Time to market can be more important than secrecy but it depends on the intrsinsic value of the product/design
