I'm thinking about the "uncrackable encryption techniques" mentioned. How much international "sharing" goes on in this field? Seems like there must be a secret arm of the government that monitors/deals with this.

I tripped on the phrase, too, Janine.  Whenever I see "uncrackable" in relation to security, I envision a savvy hacker out there who see that as a new challenge.  I can almost hear her/him saying: "Let's just see about that!"

@JannineLove, i also think that most of the work is wrapped under confidentiality agreements. There was a recent news about a Chinese group showing progress on quantum computation but it was a surprise to most of the researcher as noone thought that Chinese group could have been that far in research.

Its Called uncrackable because any attempt to ease drop destroys the quantum state thus scrambling the data.

With the Ukraine situation looking troublesome....sides may have to be taken.....seems the RQC people mentioned have U.S. ties....can the Quantum Computer predict these uncertainties/probabilities?  Or do the Chinese already have everybody out-smarted already.  The RQC endeavor may go the way of the Crimean McDonalds...

Its a long shot, but the Russians do seem to have deep enough pockets to fund it for a few years, giving it a fighting chance.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling.
