Stay tuned for quapps!!  Ironic that technology promising to be a big step forward for both business intelligence and cyber privacy conflicts with the conventional business models in this space.

Sounds like a sci-fi to me still. Quantum computation has only been tested on a small scale and commercial product is quite far away IMHO. Getting VC funding will be tough though government agencies can probably shell out money.

You are probably right.  Privacy will not in all likelihood drive proliferation of Big Data.  Check this New York Times piece:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/29/business/media/two-ad-giants-in-merger-deal-chasing-google.html?src=me&_r=0&pagewanted=all

with "announcement on Sunday of the merger of two industry giants, Omnicom and Publicis, to create the largest ad company in the world, signals that advertising is now firmly in the business of Big Data: collecting and selling the personal information of millions of consumers."

Shame on D-Wave if they won't give Seth his pesos if he deserves them......Hope they don't need his advice/help in the future....Us scientists are like Doctors; you want to live...Pay Me!  I like humans to some point.....but I like Rolls-Royces and Patek Philippe watches even more.  I have/own all kinds of Valuable Inventions, but they are in my head...not even on paper.  Even the notes are extremely well hidden underground, using geocache.  I even practice playing real dumb under torture.  Why should I buy dinner for me, then give it to you, when I'm the one who is really hungry.  P.S. this comment is copyrighted, pay me to use it.

A lot of scientists I know agree with you--especially the ones who have been ripped off a few times!
