I have written a comprehensive guide to using the Zedboard over on programmable planet as well. To date it covers creating the actual PS/PL system using planahead, XPS, and SDK. Creating the boot loader, implementing the mixed signal ADC and of course implementing your own peripheral in the PL side of the device to speed up the PS side.
Lucky you, Janine. I've been to some of NI's presentations in Sydney (Australia) and as a result of being enrolled for a diploma course I got a student copy of Labview. Have not played with it as much as I would like, but it's an awesome system.
