OMG This is a great implementation of my proposed 3D Globe (see my columns Here and Here).

I want one (but with much higher resolution)!!!

it is pretty funny that the thing that got them the most attention is possibly the one thing that shows off the fewest features of the display. The deathstar just happens to be the absolute perfect item to showcase the shape (aside from a globe).

I'm most impressed by two things:  the simple elegance of the design reminds me of some of Apple's finer work of the past, and they got a worldwide following with a single tweet.  I'm not sure which is the greater accomplishment.
