Yes, there is a gap; and I think there should be a significant gap, since there are very few people who are experienced and capable of being a CEO. If any one could do it, they wouldn't be paid so much. In medical device companies... if something goes very wrong and people are hurt, it's the CEO who ends up going to jail.
I wouldn't want to be CEO, even if they paid me a CEO salary.
Thanks. I shared this article within my friends within my circle of engineers and technology professionals and they all agreed that they will receive a salary increase this year. This is a complete change from a few years ago. Hopefully this is a sign that things are getting better.
I wonder how many U.S. electrical engineers and software developers working on embedded systems and EDA are out of work? Half the engineers in the Design News survey were concerned about their jobs. "55 percent of engineers are concerned with the security of their positions. Of the 55 percent, 20 percent are extremely or very concerned."See Workplace fluctuations in the survey.
Good news indeed but who is handing out bonuses to Design Engineers? In my 11 years in RnD I have never received a dollar extra, and furthermore I have never even heard of it for us folks. Bonuses are what Sales People and Business Managers get. It's salary only for us, which, btw, isn't always a bad thing. So I'm just curious, is this common?
This is good news for Engineers if 2013 have got them good salary hikes. I agree bad management is the man cause of dissatisfaction among engineers. Company politics is another strong reason.But in US work culture the politics is much lesser and there is no much gender bias.
