I totally agree.  I've been reading his stuff now for at least a jillion years (ok, a bit of an exaggeration - but probably 20 years or so).

My first thought was '....yeah, I bet that sucker costs a bit..' The answer is: Nope. It is a bit south of $300.  That is both a nice price point and a lot of capability.

I still remember trying to trouble shoot a 8048 which was having a bit of problem handling a serial RS-232 port (using software decoding, of course)  Oh, yeah, I was using a 454 scope (not storage!).  Sat in a darkened room, running the bad routine time after time as I tried to figure out where I had goofed up (after 3 days, I found my error - a quick change in the code and the problem was fixed and I was a bit smarter).  Anyways what I wouldn't have given for something like the Logic 16.

Now if I could get a 4 channel analog scope with all the goodies (e.g. storage and deep storage, etc).  Wait, I probably can!  Oh, my, the world moves on.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
