You mentioned that  scrambling is required for 64B/66B and 128B/130B encodings to minimize the CID length. Can't scrambling alone be suffice ? Why additional encoding is required ?

I've seen people manage 32 Gb/s and have heard of 40 Gb/s, but never seen it first hand on more than 3-4 inches (7-10 cm)

I don't know the answer to "How high of a data rate do you think we can get on, say, a foot of standard FR4 PCB?" I was hoping you would ; )

Good catch. I wrote LPF on my PLL clock recover slide, which is CORRECT! but drew a HPF which is _wrong_

 

lets say slide 20, bits it mentioned wrong in all i guess.

I work for a company that tests high-speed signals- QPI, PCIe gen3, USB3 using JTAG.  We are able to look at the "eye" at the dye using the embedded technology.

Currently testing DP 1.2 at 5.4Gbps per channel (4 channels).  Most issues with Random Jitter and ISI loss.
