I think of it more like Burning Man. Reality can be shaped by those looking and participating... Maybe we need to build the next big physics experiment at Black Rock.

Finding higgs boson and going beyond is good. But the fact is clear - Physics is gradually getting back to the one source from which all other things originate.

But sages of India in the past asked a very different question. For whom is this experience happening? This is the same as the method of going back to the source. But the direction they went is opposite, internal. In the end they finally declared that the center of our being is the very center and origin of this universe.


Sounds philosophical. Yes. It is called as Advaita Vedanta.

Yes, in fact they had "only" observed a new "energy bang" that implies that a new particle has been discovered with a high grade of confidence -- 5 sigma. This particle shares most of their properties which those the Higgs' bosson should exhibit... but that's all!!

Indeed, this is far more exciting than just discovering something completely expected. Now is the time when things starts to be interesting again in particle physics!!

This sounds like it was a really interesting experience. I would love to have seen excited people camped out for a scientific talk.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
