Re: like a rock show!

I think of it more like Burning Man. Reality can be shaped by those looking and participating... Maybe we need to build the next big physics experiment at Black Rock.

Go back to the source

Finding higgs boson and going beyond is good. But the fact is clear - Physics is gradually getting back to the one source from which all other things originate.

But sages of India in the past asked a very different question. For whom is this experience happening? This is the same as the method of going back to the source. But the direction they went is opposite, internal. In the end they finally declared that the center of our being is the very center and origin of this universe.

Sounds philosophical. Yes. It is called as Advaita Vedanta.

That link doesn't seem to work.  Try here:

Ransom Stephens has written extensively about Higgs Boson. See part 1 of 8.

@Garcia-L: Hey you really know your Higgs boson!

What's next?
Garcia-Lasheras   9/18/2013 6:20:43 PM
@Rick: "super-symmetry postulates there could be as many as five different kinds of Higgs bosons. Scientists only found one so far."

Yes, in fact they had "only" observed a new "energy bang" that implies that a new particle has been discovered with a high grade of confidence -- 5 sigma. This particle shares most of their properties which those the Higgs' bosson should exhibit... but that's all!!

Indeed, this is far more exciting than just discovering something completely expected. Now is the time when things starts to be interesting again in particle physics!!

like a rock show!

This sounds like it was a really interesting experience. I would love to have seen excited people camped out for a scientific talk.

Leonard Nimoy, We'll Miss you

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.
