@Jgrubbs: How about "a poke of proctologist"

I was going to say "let's not go there" (LOL), but then I thought:

   "a panic of proctologists"

   "a foreboding of proctologists"

   "a misery of proctologists"

   "an offense of proctologists"

   "an outrage of proctologists"

   "a trespass of proctologists"

But yours is simpler and more to the point (no pun intended :-)

@David: ...and last but not least "A competence of engineers"

I like all of your suggestions -- some are very clever -- but when it comes to engineers I still like the one I suggested "An enterprise of engineers" :-)

@David: Actually his suggestion was in his subject line: "A Horripilation of Ball Grid Arrays"

My bad -- good catch

@Duane: I love "a nnoying of nerds" ... that works on several levels. Not so sure about "a clumsy of geeks" ... how about:

"a gauche of geeks"

"a gawkish of geeks"

"a gawky of geeks"

I'm going to go with "an ingenuity of engineers".  This is in fact highly redundant, since the word engineer is derived from ingenuity, but most people (at least the USA) don't know this.
