I agree Dr FPGA, I was wondering when we would reach that point in the cost and integration capacity for these sort of ASIC MCU/sensor platforms. I am sure that smart MCU companies can see a huge market for the hybred MCU/sensor designs targeted to specific markets/applications. Just an exciting time to be a system designer...!
This is pretty great. I have been looking at using the STM32F401 series for one of my upcoming projects, and had planned to need to do some motion processing. That with their new 9dof sensor, this could make for some pretty fun projects.
This looks like a good example of the next big trend- adding firmware to MCUs to make them more application specific. Memory space is so cheap now adding program-based functionality can be a big value add. Let's see more of these!
