Re: Open is the new trend

IEEE's mission is to collect your money. You can't download papers unless you;'re a member of the IEEE society that published it. In my position as an editor, I often need papers outside my membership. That reminds me to get back in the IEEE I&M Society. I dropped it last year when I changed jobs, but now I'm back covering T&M.

Open is the new trend

With all the open source initiative, I wonder why IEEE hasn't embraced it. At the minimal, I think they should allow member to access any paper older than 1 year old and public to have access of any paper more than 5 years old. Agree?

I thought about that when writing the piece. Sorry, we're not at 100G for mobile devices. In fact, we're actually not yet at 4G. that will come once LTE-A and other technologies are more fully deployed, which the marketers will call 5G. 5G is already on the drawing board, which the marketers will call 6G or 7G.

Will there ever be a 13G or is that bad luck?

I was shocked and attracted by THE TITLE.

And I was shocked and cheated by THE TITLE.

100G papers, not 100GB of papers...
