You guys are all spot on. What's the point of a car wtihout a door?

That said, as the author Cuck Murray described,

Clearly, the Fourjoy was designed to deliver some buzz to Daimler's Smart division, and it's doing that.


I think it's actually interesting if anything comes out of this experiment -- especially in terms of "the first vehicle jointly developed in a partnership with French automaker Renault SA," as Cuck wrote.

usually a concept car only serves to showcase a concept, not necessarily a practical application for production. I'm just not really sure what concept they're showing off here.

This reminded me of the old Hertz commercials, with the guy flying into the car to land in the driver's seat. It looks very cool, especially for here in sunny SoCal, but I don't see it being used back East in winter. The battery capacity is obviously way too low, given that it will drive that engine for less than an hour at 25% of peak. Did they say anything about range?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
