Congratulations. What processors will the servers to verizon ship with. Also what was the key capability that verizon could not get with standard servers?

Yes, it is a big design win, and the reason this is news is because AMD's SeaMicro server is being used to deliver a next generation enterprise cloud with capabilities no other public cloud provider offers.  Verizon decided to collaborate with AMD because they could not do this with off the shelf servers.  This is a result of over two years of R&D by AMD and Verizon.  As for price, a standard SeaMicro SM15000 server starts at around $139,000.

The news is the big design win with Verizon for a version of the Sea Micro server AMD announced last year, a possible proof point they may have some unique virtualization capabilities.

As for the price, I don't know. Over to you, AMD.

Seamicro has been shipping for years now (apparently). I am not sure why this is news unless this is using ARM based CPUs.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling.
