I think the revolution has been going on for some time now, even if not with smartphones per se. We have do-it-yourself pulse and blood pressure testing devices, cholesterol measurement, blood sugar, ECG, let's not forget pregnancy tests, and probably more. Oh yeah, temperature. There's an old one, eh? Some of these sensors require less processing power than others, to make them useful.
While being able to send this information to a doctor's office may be important in some cases, it's not important always. I think it's just great to be able to do these tests without having to make an appointment at a doctor's office. And can only hope that many, many more such tests will be available in the future.
