Re: 34401A

Some people don;t trust specs, only history. These people are generally calibration /metrology folks. They would go for the history of the 34401A over proclaimed specs of any new instruments.

If I need to purchase a new one, I would purchase the 34461A.  It is about the same price as the 34401A and from what I see most of the specs are the same or better.

I have a few 34401A both at home and work (some of which are HP).  I will not give them up for the sake of getting something new.  If I add to them, it will be the 34461.

I played with this meter several months ago and really liked it.  Good to see it is out now.

I'm sure that many of you have an Agilent or even HP 34401A in your home or work lab. What will you do if you need a replacement? Will you upgrade to the newer model 34461A or look for a 34401A on the used market?

Does anyone have an Agilent 34461A multimeter? What do you think of it>

In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
