"When placed in warm water, the multimeter averaged 2kΩ."

You're not supposed to put multimeters in water!!!   (Sorry, couldn't resist..... :-)

I'm sure your new life will have idyllic and not-so-idyllic moments, but it will all be interesting, and you can't ask for more than that.  Best of luck with it!

@Ben,

Clear air, chilly weather, spectacular views,

Would it be correct to assume that you have a Newtonian reflector with a big honkin' mirror?  Or intend to obtain one?  I know if I ever won a lottery I'd move to the mountains with the biggest damn mirror obtainable.

Good luck with your RV!  The view that you'll have sounds incredible.

As cool as the "RV lifestyle" sounds, I'm not sure I would like living wihtout a garage!

Your idea reminds me of this guy whose blog I ran across: http://timmystoyota.blogspot.com/  - except he's in Alaska in an RV!

two years after we published this hack, I'm wondering how life is going for you after hitting the road? Hope it's great!

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Timesí Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
