Missed Ely McFlys?

Great article! If you are over 50, the top of the list is St. James. Mixture of tech workers, Stanford grad students, bikers, and Navy pilots from Moffett Field... Great place! But, the ultimate tech bar was not on the list. Ely McFlys in Cupertino.  Next door to Apple (aka Bandley 7) it was where Apple, FourPhase, and the occasional lost HP employees ended up after work, many times during.  Inside was decorated to look like a mad scientist lab. Tons of old Microwave equipment glued to the wall. Massive old vacuum tubes used as lighting fixtures.  Weird space ships everywhere....or maybe it was the Tequila.

Duh! You're right I did. I have a feeling that after this is out here for a few days, I'll have another list of 20. But, I shouldn't have missed that one...

As long as you're not telling me you were in the last three mentioned in the article, well, all I can say is that you get around! Which is your favorite?

My faves are the fairly new Steins Beer Garden, Duke of Edinburgh and Gordon Biersch. The Sports Page looks scary and the Wagon Wheel looks like a classic that was well before my time here.

Really? The Sports Page isn't scary, just busy...very busy, and the crowd tends to be young--oh, maybe that is scary?  Do you think that nerdworking isn't as often done in pubs/bars as it used to be?

Plan on a few days to get through them all! These are fun places, and the food is typically really good besides--well it would have to be given the competition.

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST

Drones are, in essence, flying autonomous vehicles. Pros and cons surrounding drones today might well foreshadow the debate over the development of self-driving cars. In the context of a strongly regulated aviation industry, "self-flying" drones pose a fresh challenge. How safe is it to fly drones in different environments? Should drones be required for visual line of sight – as are piloted airplanes? Join EE Times' Junko Yoshida as she moderates a panel of drone experts.
