@Clarke: ...one thing I couldn't quite figure out is why you have a keyboard in front of each of the three monitors on the right side of your desk.
In fact I have a keyboard and mouse in front of each screen -- my desk is curved and my chair spins, so I can spin back and forth between monitors to look straignt on at the one I wantto address -- having a keyboard and mouse already in front of the screen is a lot easier than dragging one around with me (or stretching back to reach a fixed one)
There's so many cool and interesting things I don't even know where to start. But one thing I couldn't quite figure out is why you have a keyboard in front of each of the three monitors on the right side of your desk. You mentioned those monitors were connected to a tower computer under the desk, but the only thing I can think of is that you're running a couple virtual machines. But if that's the case, does that mean you find it more efficient to have several single monitor computers rather than one computer with multiple monitors?
Thanks so much for sharing! It's really neat to see where you work. The only point of particular interest in my office is a really neat old sketch of a locamotive that crashed into a river after the bridge it was crossing buckled. On the remaining part of the bridge is a group of engineers looking down with a caption that reads "Oh Shit". It's my personal motivational poster to not be "those" guys.
I "luv" reading your articles. They bring pleasure here in this presumably ones and zeros World! But couldn't you upload images of your books, for us to see what kind of books you have in your Pleasure Dome? I could do the same and so we all could have a look at, what each others are reading or have been reading. This was just a thought, but carry on with what you do :-)
There's certainly a little tear rolling down my cheek. I think the owners just want to retire, and there simply isn't enough business to make it attractive enough to stay. I'm going to email them to tell them Rick and I are coming down, so to get theit best stuff out :-)
