What about my clock chip?

antedeluvian,

Your blog inspired me to update a long-forgotten page on EDN, Home-Made Digital Clock Keeps on Ticking. It's about a digital clock I built in college that's based on a National Semi MM5316 clock chip. You can download a PDF of the data sheet there.

Try your search and see if you have the MM5316. If you do, your scanned version is probably of better quality than mine. That scan was from a fuzzy photocopy made long ago.

Wow, you scanned over 300,000 pages? I wish I had that kind of time. Your scanner didn't break? Impressive. How much time did you put into cutting pages and scanning?

that is a true testament both to her commitment and that scanner! I would have probably gotten distracted by something shiny long before that job was done.

"this was after I had converted all my 60s/70s music on LPs to MP3 files"

I never did that, but then, I realized that most of the music should remain buried. Besides, I can still hear it on classic rock radio or YouTube.

Thanx for the pointer the PDF merger. A tool I will also use frequently.

I will do it tonight- I don't have the Adobe PDF reader here. Although I must say it doesn't look promising- I don't seem to have a National MOS data book- in amongst the multitude of others. Colour me disappointed.

As I went through, I selected the tunes that i really liked and copied them to a "Favourites" folder. It is now on my iPod and is great in the gym or on long car trips.

I was all done evenings and weekends- my wife was pretty annoyed by my dedication by the end of it. It must have taken about 9 months, but when I think back it seems much shorter.

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
