If EVs is going to be the focus , then the focus will definitely be on battery management ICs and the motor control ICs which form the crucial part of the EV control system.

Automative ICs are very vast field. What type of ICs they are focused on? Is it high voltage power electronics or MEMS or high temprature analog/digital/mixed siganl ICs used near high temperature engine?

NXP today is "practically a Chinese company"

It was only a year ago when I wrote a story about NXP today being "practically a Chinese company." That was exactly what NXP's CEO told me during an one-on-one interview at that time.

The JV with Datang couldn't have been pulled off without NXP's first-hand experience with talent and automotive market in China.

While the EV market in China is still iffy at best (NXP also knows it), the automotive electronics-focused fabless in China is an intriguing idea; and I will be sure to follow their development; and if there are similar Chinese fabless companies in the automotive electronics popping up soon...
