Let's not forget the Woodshed, (woodshed.org) the new folk haven in the South Bay (Los Gatos) for those of us who love acoustic music.

Rick,

Let's go there when I'm in Town for DesignCon. Los Gatos is really nice.

Musicians are engineers of a kind. Definitely technicians of the highest sort. Their performance and technical prowess on a nightly basis mirrors what silicon valley engineers do on a daily basis.

Many of the venues I listed are concetrated in San Jose. I'm an East Bay resident, so who can give me the inside scoop on little-known spaces I might have missed?

My favorite music "venue" in Silicon Valley is Guitar Showcase. Will anyone have a car at DesignCon who can go there with me?

Had a look on a map and some of these watering holes are really close to where EELive is going to be.  I look forward to trying some of them out if I make it over there.....
