No doubt Qualcomm is a model for other companies in the era of mobile devices. The key to their success appears to be their 20% investment of sales in R&D. Acquisitions are nice and they've certainly done well in that department, but being able to invest in one's own research and development, especially in a fast-moving environment, is essential.
What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
