@Bellhop: Pet peeve: Folks who allow the plastic wrap to split and keep unrolling so that when I pick it up, I find that I'm unrolling only 2/3 of the width.

I'm 100% with you on this one - grrrrrr is all I can say!

but the video was very much in the dialectic style of the great russian Film director Sergei Eisenstein...

Ditto to that! Being a cheapskate, I get the smashed rolls from the liquidator. Try unrolling one of those! If I get my hands on a nice, brand-name roll like our Russian has, I look like a Master Chef. What's with the awkward tear? I can yank that out and tear it square in one smooth motion!

Pet peeve: Folks who allow the plastic wrap to split and keep unrolling so that when I pick it up, I find that I'm unrolling only 2/3 of the width. Then I have to take the roll out, and try to remove the leftovers from one end. That happens with rolls of tape too.

@ARasmussen: I was certain he was going to show us how to make a huge capacitor with the Cling Film as the dielectric and the aluminum foil as the conductors that could do who knows what.

That sounds like an interesting project -- let us know how it goes (with pictures) LOL

@Arasmussen: Given the title of your post I was excited to see him put on his safety glasses and then disappointed.

Sad face :-(

@Max: ...those were his safety glasses

Given the title of your post I was excited to see him put on his safety glasses and then disappointed. I have an overactive imagination I guess.

I was certain he was going to show us how to make a huge capacitor with the Cling Film as the dielectric and the aluminum foil as the conductors that could do who knows what, maybe run our solar home 24 hours without batteries (major unreasonable expectation).  :-)

I have used the push-in tabs but find that holding the cover closed with one hand while pulling out the film/foil with the other works fine.

Thanks for sharing this.

@Garcia: ...when the Crazy Russian wore his sunglasses?

I think those were his safety glasses -- I've seen some of his other videos -- he always pulls on his glasses before starting any experiment -- I think he's just trying to make a point -- I like him -- I think he would be a fun guy to quaff a few beers with :-)

@Antedeluvian: Cereal box tops have these fancy cut outs to allowq you to close the box up once you have taken a serving.

You don't have an easy life, do you? LOL

Actually I found these flaps long time ago and I have been using it ever since. The problem is that they only work for a short while. When the box gets a bit sloppy after some use, the reels are falling out anyway.
