2017 was supposed to be when 7 nm happens. But the 3-yr fab projects for this are not starting.

PC demand as a whole is reducing with people having other options as tablets. There has to be a reduction in demand for PC chips. Soon Intel has to think of rejunavating their business strategy.

Means in my opinion. Module two is under construction and will be linked with module one. Likely intel will concentrate 10nm in these modules.....pretty large indeed !! I have some concern about out of USA production, Let's hope intel will be able to become a foundry

What's disturbing about this

I think the most disturbing thing about this is that Krzanich as CEO represents Intel's continued emphasis on manufacturing as its key strength in staying ahead of others. Although the post-PC era probably was anticipated by many, it was probably expected Intel would be able to bulldoze through the transition by its sheer ability to drive Moore's Law. But the recent series of hesitations at 14 nm, starting with sending the workers from Fab 24 back home, concluding with the halting of Fab 42, and adding to that the apparent deprioritizing of recognition of key staff, starting with Perlmutter, and culminating in staff reductions, all cast doubt on this expectation.

Thanks! What do you mean with IMO?
I wonder if they also push out D1X mod 2. Construction is still in full progress. Why D1X module 2 now?

IMO pushed out. The same thing is valid for Fab 20 equipment for the 10nm node and for Israeli ex Micron Fab. All pushed out....obviously IMO.

Likely Fab 42 will be dedicated to 10nm with Fab D1X modules 1+2 (without 450mm wafers).

I wonder if anyone asked this question: is Ireland still on the table for 14nm or has this been pushed out as well?

What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
