got got lessons on the VNA measurements good lecture series thanks EE.
Thank you Alfred!
Thank you Alfred.
Have a good day
Thanks Al Good talk
cannot seem to find any defination of acronymsTIA, Tx FIR, Rx CTLE, Rx CTLE DFE, EOL, PNA, DFE, ESF, EDF,
TIA transimpedance amplifier
FIR Finite Impulse Filter
CTLE Continuous time linear filter, Continuous Time Linear Estimation
DFE Decision feedback estimator
ESF and EDF source and directivity match cal. This is confusing because all books and references use slightly different names for error box errors.
Have a good day everyone.
WRT can provide copies of our papers, you can also purchase papers through UBM.
The VNA can vectorially subtract S-parameters, also can use Matlab. Make sure you save all 3 S-parameter files in directory however.
Your welcome, thank you for good audience participation!
I can't get to DesignCon so the online video of the presentations will be appreciated.
Harmonic sampling is equal frequency increments, including the point at D.C. (which the VNA does not measure!).
So, Harmonics sampling would be
0Hz, 25MHz (Fstart), 50MHz, 75MHz,...., 40GHz (Fstop).
We also discuss this in detail for next week DesignCon paper "Managing S-parameters", which will be available on our website.
Thanks very much AL...
Al will be given several papers at DesignCon. He will also be on a panel on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 3:45.
Closing the loop: What to do when measurements and simulations don't match.
See you tomorrow.
Thanks for the averaging/smoothing explanation.
Thank you for today's long cover on calibration
Who is going to DesignCon?
Questions will continue here.
Alfred thank you for today's presentation
what tool is used to perform the subtraction? MATLAB?
Getting near the end so post your questions here.
There will be presentations on de-embedding at DesignCon next week.
@John we can ask as the end of the presentation. Thanks for your question.
Is averaging a time domain function and smoothing a frequency domain function?
Please explain harmonic sampling as on slide 18
Hi everyone, good morning.
Are you familiar with reference planes? I could use some help. Let's chat about that later.
We can provide them after the show.
I cannot seem to find any defination of acronyms
TIA, Tx FIR, Rx CTLE, Rx CTLE DFE, EOL, PNA, DFE, ESF, EDF,
and others ?????
I can provide links to articles on using Smith charts
Hi All from Boston;audio,slides check!
Remember, all measurements are estimates, to some extent.
Al has the right slide numbers today.
Audio is up
Audio is up!!
Good idea the countdown time to start!
hello from Mishawaka
Hi from Atlanta
Welcome to Day 3!
We have 45 slides today so we will ahve to move quickly.
Rodney0 what do you mean?

FYI, I am Martin Rowe, the course moderator. I go by MeasurementBlues because of a song I wrote called The Measurement Blues.
Welcome to Day 3: What Constitutes a 'Good' VNA Measurement?
Good morning, almost afternoon, from Boston, where the snow has stopped and the sun is out but it's very cold.
Good evening from Valladolid, Spain, in the West of Europe
