Walking before running

I'm all in favor of high speed Internet and improved networking technologies. What I find frustrating is that there are so many software glitches and browser issues that my attempt to watch the "State of the Union" address this evening failed. Although I'm connected to high speed Internet in Chattanooga (famous for high speed Internet access), the streaming videos all crashed (with a helpful message that I should try again in 30 minutes) or locked up. Cable access couldn't manage and I can't access the Electric Power Board fiberoptic Internet from this location. I ultimately heard about 5 minutes. I did succeed in finding the text of the speech and read it as an alternative (plain text seemed to make it through a 30 MB connection). While we're trying to improve our ability to "run" on the Internet, how about a little more attention of debugging softeware so that we can at least "walk" with low resolution video and audio.

PCI Express is Native

PCIe is native in the box and to all endpoints within the rack. Why spend money to purchase and power Ethernet adapter cards? Learn more on PLX website. http://plxtech.com/applications/expressfabric

Re: Don't forget RapidIO

When Rapid IO comes to market, that could be the next wave of disruption, the next shift. In the meantime, 2014 appears to be a year of a number of other shifts--at least according to this report.

The vast majority of the embedded designers I know typically create MCU-based systems -- they rarely even consider using a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.
