That's a completely realistic hypothesis, provided you choose the correct number base.  A factor of 10 base 2 might be doable, but I think I'll put my money on base 1.618 :-)

I have a feeling the 10-10-10 hypothesis is a bit generalised as well. It's sounds more like rhetoric than research. The take away, I suppose is more of an appreciation of how mitigating the constraints can improve shipments.

Yes IoT if we think of implementing in present day things, it is very much possible using the devices and readily available protocol stack, but what the technology will demand is power efficient and reliable implementation now this will be an challenging opportunity for the chip giants.

Do you think this is a realistic hypothesis? One analyst I spoke with called rules of ten "generalized" and added that, in reality, those relationships don't hold well.

Yes, he did not mention exactly how power onsumption was to go down by a factor of 10, nor compute performance yp by a factor of 10. If that happens, the possibilities are quite enticing.

Well stated, and quite likely a prediction that will be borne out. Those "ifs" are pretty big though.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
