Well, I suspect he just wanted to take a peek and see if there was any evidence of the rodents. It isn't like the little bot could really do anything without further expansion.

 

I wondered about the battery issue as well. He could always build another robot to retrieve the first!

An interesting use of a 3D printer. I'd think that using Infrared lights might reduce the warning provided to the rodents and their sense of being "targeted" (regardless of the light, they can hear the vehicle). Another strategy might be to drive the device into a likely location (perhaps with a little peanut butter bait or even a mousetrap) and then wait with the video running to detect motion in the image. Finally, I wonder what happens when the batteries run out in a shallow crawl space.  Is it time to start lifting floor boards upstairs to retrieve the $500 phone and vehicle?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling.
