It took about 5 years after the transistor was invented before the method of purifing silicon so that it could scale in frequency.  As I understand it Graphene is where the transistor was at its time of invention.  I say that our combined technology will solve the production problem and when that happens, it will scale our technology to new territories.  As I see it now, silicon has about five years or so before it can reach its max frequency.  We need Graphene or Silicene or Stanene to come through for us.  When it does, we'll have a brave new world.  I'm betting on Graphene and have invested in a graphite mine.

..and as a 2D material is a broken up conductor (ergo, extra electron scattering) on a surface with nonzero roughness. Same argument as Cu thickness extrapolated to zero.

Time to fulfill the expectations

The time has come now to fulfill those promises the researchers have made when Graphene was first discovered and its extraordinary properties made public.

The promising area as I recollect  is the transparent coating of the window glass  to turn windows into solar panels. That would be a real revolution in Solar energy generation.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling.
