I work with imaging with personal computers and visual studio programming suite for compilation and sharing of comics...I am waiting for the day when my mass produced store bought scanner can image molecular level covalances with grand unified theories...

Look at Multispec from Purdue University.

They have been at the forefront of multi and Hyper spectral analysis.

The Software is free and already runs on a PC.

hi, our main contribution in this area is mainly developing (custom) compact HSI sensors that can go into (compact) cameras. We are indeed working with few partners who are actually performing the application development. For these type of sensors we do see traction with players in applications of medical, precision-agri, food industry and industrial machine vision. There are also a few aiming to go towards hand-held systems too..

Thanks for the link. Indeed there are quite a few s/w packages that can perform multi/hyperspectral data analysis... the challenge has been in this domain/area to bring this tech to main stream is to develop a compact multi/hyper-spectral camera. This is our main contribution. Reuse of the rest is absolutely desirable. Some end customers though, may not have knowledge of hsi data analysis, it is for them few companies are emerging who bring in HSI analysis (presumably with maximal reuse of available software)  and produce in a form such that use of multi/hyper-spectral data is hidden...

Hi Murali...very interesting story, we have been doing hyperspectral imaging in X-ray and gamma-ray domains for a while with great results...but it has never occured to me this concept can be applied to visible light as well...would you be interested in giving a talk on this topic at emerging technologies symposium in Grenoble in July 2014? program at www.cmosetr.com, kris.iniewski@gmail.com
