I clicked on "Post a comment" and an ad appeared for this scope. Looks like there is no escape.

Since it could be a spectum analyzer it might include an RF sweep generator, and an arbitrary function generator instead of a plain old function generator.

Well, you did ask for comments (guessing is messy, all ends in tears etc).

SNR > 72dB across full BW, channel isolation the same.

Battery power facility, runtime > 60min.

Isolation > 4kV and < 1pF across full BW.

Full set of Diff FET probes and 50ohm probes included in the price.

Linux OS, Open source drivers chucked in.

No problem with "pop up ads", but been 'nixing' for a couple of decades, such is life.

The model is MDO3000 and the extra instrument is a Protocol analyzer.

Looks like Feb. 25 is going to be a big day for scopes, what with the opening of embedded World.

Is Tek doing my *Give It Away* standpoint?

Let us see what TEK does. Maybe they do my *Give It Away* standpoint: No more silly soft options business model. As soon as you have it developed: Sell it ! Besides the fact that I am pretty sure that every engineer wants this anyway. Nothing is more annoying to go back to management to ask 10 times if 'you may buy this option' and they say 'no' because you never can explain well enough why you (might) need it. We will see... ;-)

@Navelpluis, We will find out soon enough if Tek takes the software upgrade path or sells you everything in each model. Perhaps the scope marketers don't understand how difficult it can be to buy an upgrade.

Official announcement time is 9:00 AM Eastern time tomorrow. I will start uploading my report later in the morning. We honor embargoes and some content could be visible through searches even if it's not visible on the site without the URL.

Time to start writing my piece, which will initially appear on EDN T&M Design Center.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems. Signal integrity sage Ransom Stephens will explain how PAM4 differs from NRZ and what to expect in design, measurement, and signal analysis.
