Microchip has an M2M development platform for CDMA networks. It's important to consider deployment costs, where a 4G LTE network may prove too expensive for all but the very largest implementations (power to negotiate low rates). The Microchip platform is pre-certified on the Verizon 2G Network that has been guaranteed to be around for 10 years. Thanks for your input. This is a good example of the possible Wide Area Network interfaces.
I never had the chance to look at your product specs. Do you interface to it serially or can it be used with an Ethernet like interface. I am asking the question because when more than one IP interface is required on a product, the best solution is to have the TCP/IP stack drive all interfaces. If a second TCP/IP stack is running in the cellular interface, it complicates the application software.
