@Caleb: I'm sure your fish must applaud that LED in their own way. ;-)

This sounds really fun. Perhaps someone will invent an applause-o-meter spoofer gadget.

an applause-o-meter, I could see that being applied to contests the winner of which is determined by who gets the most applause....

Right now all I have planned is an "applaus-o-meter". It should be pretty cool! I did want to build a 50 watt special LED light for one of my aquariums, but that wouldn't really be much to show off, the heatsink looks really cool, but everyone would be blind the moment I turned it on!

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
