Transformer less operation for current mode PHY in Backplane applications

Can you please let me know if transformerless opearation is possible with current mode line driver as shown in the figure  (which pulls current from the transformer center tap), and with 50 ohm termination resistors (with center point coupled to gnd with cap)  completely implemented inside the phy device. i.e the resistors are not accessible on the pins of the component.
